It seems like only yesterday that the anti-vaccination crowd was limited to a few small religious sects in America and Jenny McCarthy.
And before Jenny McCarthy began her nonsensical spiel in 2007, it was just the few religious sects. Putting aside that McCarthy relied on an academically flawed medical journal article (that has since been completely debunked) to undergird her claims that vaccines caused autism and that her son was misdiagnosed, McCarthy is the godmother of “I did my own research” idiocy. She also managed to regenerate life into the notion that science was could be denied democratically or refuted legislatively - a concept that was buried 96 years ago at the Scopes Monkey Trial.
The anti-vaccination movement now includes millions of FoxNews viewers who have affixed themselves to the movement in the age of COVID. Most through a fealty to Trumpism and a few through a general “I am against anything, the Libs are for” mentality.
Of course, public health official could always tell anti-vaccine reactionaries that as long as they are making monthly donations to Donald Trump, no one thinks they are disloyal, a traitor, or a RINO. That kind of realism stings much more that a vaccine.
FoxNews, of course, has become over the last couple of months a 24/7 factory of anti-vaccine nonsense and faux civil libertarians in the wake of a booming economy and a world that’s not laughing at America’s President.
Which makes this all the funnier (and sadder).
FoxNews is dead serious about COVID. And no, they won’t let unvaccinated people into their studios.
When COVID takes its millionth victim in the U.S., no doubt FoxNews will will paint the pandemic as Biden’s failure. Unfortunately for FoxNews, the bulk of the dead will be their viewers
