In the movie The Godfather, Vito Corleone makes clear his feelings for his future son-in-law at the wedding. On the subject of putting Carlo Rizzi into a position as a capo.
“Never. Give him something to earn his living, a good living. But never let him know the Family's business. Tell the others, Sonny, Fredo, Clemenza."
Between his tutelage under attorney Roy Cohn and his association with mafia figures in the 1970s and 1980s, Donald Trump has had long history with organized crime1. And, furthermore, Donald Trump has long been enamored with organized crime’s management-style. Threats of violence and third party assistance to carry out such threats coupled with a zero tolerance for those who might snitch limits most of one’s legal exposure — a plus to Trump’s way of operating.

Perhaps, it was how close we were to having a Cabinet meeting convened pursuant to the 25th Amendment — and an open question of why one did not happen.
No, the worst of it was revelations that while the Capitol was falling into dystopian madness and Trump was descending into a meglomaniacal state, Trump’s Chief of State Mark Meadows was staring at his phone…detached and disconnected from everything.
Much like Carlo Rizzi.
