The DOJ scrambles for 1/6 Committee transcripts
The "why" of it is likely embarassing
The Department of Justice has once again asked for transcripts of witness interviews by the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the Capitol1.
Some quick conclusions.
One, the DOJ has not done a thorough investigation and was always relying on absorbing the Committee’s work. It sounds like the DOJ was papering up an investigation, but actually doing next to nothing.
Two, it’s become clear that there is a growing consensus that Trump and his co-conspirators are legally culpable. That is not just the Left and Progressives within the Democratic Party. It’s Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-AR)2 and others like him. Conservatives pulling hard away from Trumpism and its empty ideology.
Three, the far-Right, FoxNews, and the pro-Trump loyalists in the GOP have no answers to what is clearly a violation of legal and democratic norms.
President Donald John Trump carried out an attempted coup to prevent Joe Biden from being certified as the President-Elect. Trump knew what he was doing was illegal and had been advised of such on numerous occasions prior to January 6th.
