Trumpism is about money to The Donald
and about fealty "to whatever Trump" wants for his base
The biggest block to Donald Trump announcing his presidential bid for 2024 is that the RNC will stop paying his legal bills.1
Plus, Trump’s PAC will meet the FEC and its reporting requirements.
So when the search warrant was served on Trump’s attorney, Christina Bobb2; the faux “raid” narrative died news-wise, except among those who listen to right-wing media sources; Donald Trump churned his fundraising among those that do listen to FoxNews et. al. Sadly that’s about a third of the country.
The “raid” occurred on August 8th and Donald Trump has been bleeding his followers non-stop ever. Not a real surprise.
The only thing that beats “I am in real legal trouble here” is “my wife just passed away” in terms of desperate appeals for financial help. Actually it was his first ex-wife, but he grifted fot that nevertheless.3
On the Mar-a-Lago search for classified materials and other documents that fall under the category of presidential records; the Right trotted out numerous excuses, explanations, and faux legal arguments — none of which have worked.
Then Trump threatened to show the search warrant, but Merrick Garland beat him to the punch.
And when Trump started talking about seeing the affidavit for the warrant, the Department of Justice objected stating the obvious — an ongoing investigation with some national security risks (save it, trolls, there were classified top secret nuclear documents in the items seized) and grand jury considerations.
Talking was all Trump did, but various media outlets did not and sued to unseal the affidavit. The judge issued an order to allow a redacted copy of the affidavit to be unsealed. And took the time to note the obvious.
Days and days of not a legal move by Donald Trump and his crack band of lawyers, but he took in millions on what is known as “Donald Trump’s Two Weeks Notice.4”
Give Trump credit here though; yesterday (exactly two weeks after the search), he filed a motion to have a special master review the seized documents before the FBI could do so.5 One cannot be sure what Trump thinks the FBI has been doing with the documents for two weeks, but it has not been waiting on him to stop them from putting the documents into some indictable order.
Probably another thinly-veiled means of getting money from his base.
