You are correct, but "what if" the GOP and their supporters simply decide to ignore that, get him on the ballot (or write him in) then let the rigged legislatures simply put their own electors in. That's what they are currently working on setting now.

Prison is less important than a 14th Amendment Section 3 disqualifiaction. Once imposed it would render Trump legally incapable of having any fiduciary control of PAC money. That and being constitutionally barred from holding elective office is all we can get but also everything we need.

If the massive seditious conspiracy which attempted to keep a losing candidate in office isn't prosecuted, I don't think it makes a lick of difference if Trump can't get himself re-elected.

There's no shortage of grifters among the ranks of the Trump party politicians. The republic is already lost when control of government is handed over to them.
